El objetivo de este viaje era visitar las teleras y el carpintero con quienes trabajo. También, aprovechando la cercanía, quería visitar artesanos en Tucumán.
Esta vez viaje con mi madre y preferí hacerlo en avión y alquilar un auto allí. Busqué el auto de Hertz en Santiago del Estero y lo devolví en Tucumán.
En Santiago del Estero nos alojamos a las afueras en el “Hotel Marías”, La Banda. Generalmente trato de evitar las ciudades ya que lo más lindo de estos viajes es la tranquilidad de los lugares más alejados. Al día siguiente unos conocidos de mi madre nos llevaron de recorrida por la ciudad de Santiago y almorzamos allí. Luego viajamos unos 200km al sur de Santiago para reunirnos con las teleras. Fue muy lindo conocerlas, conversar e intercambiar ideas. Dormimos en un hotel cerca y al día siguiente visitamos la carpintería y los alrededores. Almorzamos en su casa junto a su familia compartiendo un riquísimo chivito cocinado en el horno a leña. El almuerzo fue temprano ya que nos esperaba un largo camino hasta Termas de Rio Hondo. Pasamos por Loreto en busca de algunas alfombras pero no tuvimos suerte. Llegamos a Termas con los últimos rayos de luz al “Hotel Los Cardones”. El hotel estaba bien pero los alrededores eran inseguros. Lo mejor fue el Spa que luego de un día agotador me revivió.
Al día siguiente partimos rumbo a Aguilares, Tucumán. Allí almorzamos con Idalea y Sergio unas riquísimas empanadas en su taller. Ellos trabajan el fieltro, haciendo ella unas muñecas increíbles y el unos mini cactus. Luego seguimos viaje a Tafí del valle, Tucumán. Visitamos la lindísima localidad de Tafí. Conocí el local de Sergio y Alberto con quienes ya me había contactado desde Buenos Aires. Tienen unos maravillosos productos en lana o algodón, dejando en evidencia un dominio único del color. Seguimos viaje por camino de ripio hasta el “Hotel Estancia Las Carreras”. Un lugar increíble que no hay que dejar de visitar.
Al día siguiente salimos viaje a Yerba Buena, Tucumán. Este es un lindísimo barrio a las afueras de la ciudad de Tucumán con grandes casonas y buena arboleda. Nos alojamos en el “Howard Johnson” que está muy bien ubicado. A la noche nos fuimos caminando hasta el restaurante Lola Mora a pocas cuadras de allí. A la mañana siguiente nos tomamos un vuelo desde Tucumán.
TRIP TO SANTIAGO DEL ESTERO AND TUCUMAN

The aim of this trip was to visit the weavers and the carpenter with whom I work. Also, taking advantage of the proximity, I wanted to visit artisans in Tucumán.
This time I traveled with my mother and I preferred to do it by plane and rent a car there. I picked up the car in Hertz in Santiago del Estero and I returned it in Tucumán.
In Santiago del Estero we stayed in the surrounding area, in the "Hotel Marías", La Banda. Generally, I try to avoid cities since the nicest part of these trips is the tranquility of the most distant places. The next day some acquaintances of my mother took us on a tour of the city of Santiago and we had lunch there. We then traveled about 200km south of Santiago to meet with the weavers. It was very nice to meet them, talk and exchange ideas. We slept in a hotel nearby and the next day we visited the carpentry and the surroundings. We had lunch at his home with his family sharing a delicious chivito cooked in the wood-fired oven. Lunch was early as we waited a long way to Termas de Rio Hondo. We went through Loreto in search of some rugs but we had no luck. We arrived at Termas with the last rays of light at the "Hotel Los Cardones". The hotel was fine but the surroundings were unsafe. The best thing was the Spa that after a tiring day revived me.
The next day we left for Aguilares, Tucumán. There we had lunch with Idalea and Sergio, some delicious empanadas in his workshop. They work the felt, she makes the most incredible dolls and he makes mini cacti. Then we continued the trip to Tafi del Valle, Tucumán. We visited the beautiful town of Tafi. I met with Sergio and Alberto at their shop, whom I had already contacted from Buenos Aires. They have wonderful wool or cotton products, revealing a unique knowledge and command of color. We continued our journey along the gravel road to the "Estancia Las Carreras Hotel". An incredible place that should not be missed.
The next day we went to Yerba Buena, Tucumán. This is a beautiful neighborhood on the surroundings of the city of Tucumán with large mansions and bushy trees. We stayed at the "Howard Johnson" which is very well located. At night we went walking to the restaurant Lola Mora a few blocks away. The next morning we took a flight from Tucumán.
