El motivo del viaje era visitar la Feria del Poncho en Catamarca. Así que salimos desde Buenos Aires en auto con mi hermana, sus dos hijas y mi madre. El primer día hicimos 800km llegando a última hora a Azcochinga, Córdoba. Nos alojamos en el Hotel El Colibrí. Un lugar de ensueño. Tuvimos la suerte de alojarnos en una habitación con chimenea así que dormimos con el sonido y luces del fuego.

Al día siguiente hicimos 400km hasta la ciudad de Catamarca. Visitamos la ciudad y fuimos a recorrer la Feria del Poncho. La feria es enorme, con muchísimo público. Pero daría la impresión que en sus comienzos se podían encontrar más artesanos locales y que ahora se había desvirtuado. Había que andar mucho para encontrar algo interesante. Descubrí allí un artista, Oscar Fontalva, que hace obras en alambre y hierro, a quien le compre varias obras. Hicimos noche en el Amerian Park Hotel ubicado en el centro.

Al día siguiente, camino a Tinogasta almorzamos en La Sala Posada de Campo. Un lugar lindísimo donde nos atendieron bárbaro. Luego visitamos Tinogasta y desde allí seguimos viaje por el Camino de los Artesanos pasando por Londres y Belen. Desde allí viajamos por camino de montaña hasta Chañarmuyo, La Rioja. Hicimos noche en el Hotel del vino, rodeado de viñedos.

Salimos a la mañana siguiente rumbo a Ascochinga. Fueron casi 550km de camino de montaña disfrutando un increíble paisaje. Hicimos noche en el palaciego Hotel Estancia La Paz. Disfrutamos de nuestra última noche paseando por el parque y comiendo en el restaurante del hotel.

THE 2016 TRIP TO CATAMARCA

The reason for the trip was to visit the Poncho Fair in Catamarca. So we left Buenos Aires by car with my sister, her two daughters and my mother. The first day we made 800km arriving at Azcochinga, Córdoba, at the last minute. We stayed at “Hotel El Colibri”, a dream place. We were lucky enough to stay in a room with a fireplace so we slept with the sound and lights of the fire.
The next day we made 400km to the city of Catamarca. We visited the city and later went to the Feria del Poncho. The fair is huge, and attacts a big crowd. But I was given the impression that in its beginnings more local artisans could be found and that now it had become distorted. You had to walk a lot to find something interesting. I discovered an artist there, Oscar Fontalva, who does works in wire and iron, to whom I bought several works. We spent the night at the “Amerian Park Hotel” located downtown.

The next day on our way to Tinogasta we had lunch at “Posada de Campo”. A beautiful place where we were treated wonderfully. We then visited Tinogasta and from there we continued the journey of the Artisans' Way passing through Londres and Belen. From there we travelled by mountain road to Chañarmuyo, La Rioja. We spent the night at the “Hotel del Vino”, surrounded by vineyards.
We left the next morning towards Ascochinga. There were almost 550km of mountain road enjoying an incredible landscape. We stayed in the palatial Hotel “Estancia La Paz”. We enjoyed our last night walking around the park and eating in the hotel restaurant.
